Giovanni Gastel

I'd never really noted to the work of this Italian photographer, until I was became that annoying person in a bookstore who looks through an entire book (I may as well have taken a seat and made a cup of tea) and then doesn't buy it. Well, I don't have the funds, but I dare to dream. The book was the catalogue for his exhibition in Milan called "Maschere e Spettri" (Masks and Ghosts - as I'm looking at masking in my collection it tweeked my curiosity). His photographic representations challenge femininity and its transitory nature, testing its limits of corruption. His work is violent, creepy, grotesque, mysterious, enchanting and hideously captivating.
